Make no mistake, this is the best chain tool you will ever
need to stake rivet links.
A heavy duty combined riveter and splitter complete with
all parts to fit 520 to 532 size chains which require staking
of the soft rivets.
Correct chain riveting is extremely important. A badly riveted
chain can fail causing damage to the bike, or indeed injury
to the rider.
With the rivet tool press the plate on bit by bit and as
evenly as possible (with the Whale tool this is a doddle).
You need to press the plate so there is no play left and
the plate is contacting the O ring slightly but the link
can move freely (not to much so the link is seized and unable
to move).
Lock the main body of the tool on the chain and with a hammer
strike the rivet tool one way (with a mark at 12 o'clock)
then turn it 90 degrees and strike it again making a good
strong job and a nice square pattern on the heads.
